There are many great walks in the local area that you can access from Hartington, or that pass near the village. Here are a small selection:

1. The High Peak Trail

This trail  is a 17.5 mile trail from High Peak Junction, near Cromford to Dowlow near Buxton.

You can access the trail from High Peak Junction and Cromford Wharf, Black Rocks and Middleton Top where car parking is available (charges apply). There are regular bus services and railway stations at nearby Cromford, Whatstandwell and Ambergate.

Facilities: Parking, Refreshments, Toilets at Parsley Hay.

2. The Tissington Trail

The Tissington Trail runs along a 13 mile route from Ashbourne to Parsley Hay. At this point it joins up with the High Peak Trail. Hartington Halt is the nearest point to the village.

Facilities: Parking, toilets and occasional refreshments at Hartington Halt. There are more extensive facilities available two miles south of the Halt in the village.

3 Wolfscote Dale

This scenic limestone dale eroded by the River Dove is accessible by a  well laid pathway  via Beresford Dale from the village of Hartington.

4 Wolfscote Hill

Towering over Beresford and wolfscote Dales at 388m the climb up is rewarded with far reaching views over the Dove Valley.

5.Beresford Dale

Walking across  3 fields along a signposted footpath you enter Beresford Dale, viewing the remaining tower of Beresford Hall on the rocky crag over the River Dove as well as Charles Cotton’s historic fishing lodge.
